week 4

In week 4 of network management and infrastructure we read chapter 6 which discussed solid cables and stranded cables and the advantages and disadvantages of each as well as read about how to properly set up a server room and where to set up your wiring room in correspondence to the server room.  One of the differences between solid cables and stranded cables are that they are thicker and have higher conductivity and are better suited to being utility lines due to their rigidity where stranded cables are smaller individual cables put together they have much higher flexibility then solid wires.

week 3

In chapter 3 of Comptia Network+ the main focus of discussion is different types of ethernet cords and their different speeds.  The other major change that ethernet cords have gone through as they evolved is the length they can be in the case of fiber optics it can get as long as two kilometers.  Chapter 3 also discusses more in depth with networking hubs as well as switches and how they operate.  Chapter 4 mainly focuses on all the different type of ethernet cords from the 100basefx to the 1000baselx.  Chapter 4 also talks about issues with the types of cables.

week 2

I am a bit more well informed about the subject of physical cords for networking(or I would like to think) this is a large part due to having so many issues with Comcast at one point where I had a loss of internet connection both consistently and randomly sometimes I would go a week without any internet loss sometimes it was 5 times a day.  They tried everything they could over the internet whether it was resetting the router to switching wavelength the wifi operated on even sending out a technician to check the lines in the house.  In the end, I found the issue while raking the yard and getting snagged on a cord in my yard which hadn’t been there before confused I attempted to follow it but the majority was still underground until it all clicked this was the issue I felt around the cord and lo and behold I found a portion that was damaged finally the mystery of the unreliable internet service was found.

week 1

The IT industry is possibly the largest rising industry due to the changes made from the bottom to the top of large companies in the name of efficiency a simple example can be taken from Walmart, and how they now use a warehouse wide connected system so you can have multiple people working on one half of the same trailer.  This makes it so that all they have to do is look at a phone essentially kitted out with their own software to find out where the trailer is at as far as completion or even if an item they are missing is across the warehouse being handled by another employee making what could have been a search for one item all over the warehouse to something easy to handle at the touch of a screen.
